Visit UC Berkeley's GPA calculator and enter the units and grades for all your classes or just your science classes. You will need your overall GPA and science GPA when you complete the online application.
To convert a 5.0 GPA to a 4.0 GPA, divide your cumulative 5.0 GPA by 1.25, or divide your cumulative GPA by 5 then multiply by 4. Both ways will yield the same 4.0 GPA conversions.
Within your online application, you will request for the letter writer to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. To make this request, you will enter the names and email address of each letter writer. You can also change or add different request. Carefully follow the instructions provided within the online application.
Letters from people who have experience working with you in a research setting, faculty mentors, principal investigators, professors, and teachers are preferred. Two letters from the same lab is consider as one letter (i.e. a letter from faculty member and one from your lab mentor-postdoc or graduate student you worked with in the lab)
A letter from your pastor, resident advisor, music teacher, high-school teacher, or relative unless you have worked directly with one of these people conducting research is not preferred.

No. You are required to participate for the entire 10 weeks except for students on a quarter system who must arrive late and participate approximately 9 weeks.
